Multiple GSW PARADING to Claiborne
12-15-2009

Phipps Stable’s multiple graded stakes winner PARADING has been retired from racing and will stand at Claiborne Farm in 2010, according to farm representative Bernie Sams.

The Phipps homebred, who was also raised at Claiborne, raced for four years and was on the board in 17 of 21 lifetime starts winning on dirt, turf and all weather. Winner of the Volponi S. at Belmont in 2008, PARADING had his best year in 2009. He drew away to win Keeneland’s Ben Ali S.-G3 by 7 1/2 lengths and then won Pimlico’s Dixie S.-G2 in back-to-back races. In addition, he was second in the Fayette S.-G2 and finished fourth – beaten less than two lengths – in both the Goodwood S.-G1 and Pacific Classic S.-G1.

A son of leading sire and sire of sires Pulpit, Parading is out of the graded stakes-placed Storm Cat mare On Parade, who is a full sister to Eclipse Champion Storm Flag Flying. His second dam is four-time Grade 1 stakes winner My Flag, and his third dam is Eclipse Champion and Broodmare-of-the-Year Personal Ensign.

"This horse is extremely talented and very good looking," said trainer Claude R. (Shug) McGaughey. "As well as the sons of Pulpit are doing at stud, with his talent, looks and pedigree, I think he will make a very good stallion. And at this fee, he’s certainly a great value."

PARADING will stand for $3,500 live foal stands and nurses. For more information contact Bernie Sams at (859) 233-4252.
