Bull Hancock begins annual foal sharing partnership arrangement with William Haggin Perry. Hancock is honored as annual testimonial dinner guest by the Thoroughbred Club of America.

1963

Bold Ruler leads the sire list for the first time. [He will lead for seven consecutive years and for a total of eight times, more than any other American stallion of the 20th Century.] Bold Ruler's Lamb Chop becomes the first champion raced by Perry in the partnership.

Gamely began her career at three in California. That year she won the Princess Stakes at Hollywood Park and the Test and the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga.

At 4:
Gamely set a filly's record by carrying 131 pounds to victory in the Vanity. She also won the Santa Margarita and the Beldame, and beat males in the Inglewood Handicap.

In her final season Gamely won the Beldame again, the Wilshire, the Santa Monica, and the Diana Handicap. Gamely produced two foals before dying of a ruptured stomach at Claiborne Farm.

One of her foals, Cellini, won the Dewhurst Stakes in England.
Gamely was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1980.

Moccasin, bred by Claiborne and carrying its silks, is the unbeaten 2-year-old filly champion and is Horse of the Year on one poll.
