MARE IN FOAL TO FIRST SAMURAI SELLS FOR $700,000!
The first mare through the ring at the 2008 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale carrying a foal from the first crop of FIRST SAMURAI brought a final sale price of $700,000!

Purchased by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Hip 22 was the mare stakes producing mare, Premium Red, the dam of G1 winner, Premium Tap. From the consignment of Legacy Bloodstock , Agent VI, the sale ticket was signed by Frank McGovern, general manager for King Abdullah and Sons Stables, who owns and campaigns Premium Tap in the Middle East.

"We also liked the covering stallion," said McGovern when asked what attracted them to the mare besides the obvious family connection.

November 10, 2007:
Mares carrying foals from the first crop of multiple G1 winner FIRST SAMURAI were in hot demand at the  2007 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

The stakes-placed Songandaprayer mare, Golden Silk, carrying her first foal, was purchased for $600,000 by Lane's End Bloodstock.

The second highest price was the stakes winning Horse Chestnut mare Charming N Loveable, who was  purchased by Claiborne Farm for $500,000!

Throughout the first few sessions, mares in foal to FIRST SAMURAI continued to sell well, bringing final prices of $450,000, $400,00,$340,00, $325,000 and seven mares who were purchase for $200,000 or more.

November 5 - 9, 2007:
Multiple G1 winner FIRST SAMURAI is represented by twenty-six mares in foal from his first crop consigned to the 2007 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
